Preparing Your Children
parent_talkTalking about the war against bullies it is understandable that the front is at school. That's where the huge majority of bullying happens in accordance with bullying statistics and is also where actions against bullying can have the greatest impact. But what measures should a parent take that wants to help their child cope with bullying?

If you are afraid for your child's well being while they are at school then you are not alone. Look through the recent bullying statistics:
32% of parents fear for their child's physical safety when the child is at school
39% of parents with a child in grade six or higher are more likely to say they fear for their child's safety
22% of parents whose children are in grade five or lower fear for their child's safety.

With all this fear what measures can a responsible parent take in order to outfit their child with the tools to fight bullying?

The best thing you can do to get ready your child for bullying is to give details of the mindset of the bully. Try to explain how recent bullying statistics demonstrate that most bullies come from families without love and harsh disciplinary actions. Point out that bullies often suffer from low self esteem which flows into making other people for worse to lift themselves up. Once this is explained it will empower your child and will lift up his self esteem so bullying effects him little.

Often parents feel powerless against the hazard that their children deal with at school. But taking initiative and explaining the mindset behind bullying will result in greater understanding of bullies which can cause your child to be unaffected by them totally.
